2012 Dallas Fall Leader's Meeting!

What an incredible weekend!  Our team was blessed to host the 2012 Fall Regional Leader's Conference at the DFW Marriott in Irving, TX.  What a great turnout of over 400 team members who joined us to network, brainstorm and learn.  We were able to have our HR Team, Corporate Trainers, Assistant Managers, and Managing Partners join us in Dallas.  Evantage, Inc. President, Chris Auwarter hosted the event and we had 12 industry leaders speak to our team throughout the day.

One of the constant messages being shared was to keep developing yourself personally and professionally and to not wait till the New Year to start setting your "New Years Resolutions."

One lesson shared was a message from NBA legend Pat Riley..."There is a difference between Game Excellence and being Excellent in a Game."  The point was made that anyone can be excellent at one time, but Game Excellence is consistent, day in, day out results.  Great Message!

We were also able to recognize Top Leaders from across the region.  These were a select few that over the past 6 months have shown excellence in their work, but also the respect of their piers and management for their work.  Congratulations again to all those who were awarded a Top Leader Award!  We are proud of that achievement and you should be too.

The highlight of the event though was a raffle we did for an iPad.  The big winner though wasn't the winner of the iPad, but Operation Smile.  We sold raffle tickets, 1 for $5 and 6 for $20.  We were able to raise $1160 for Operation Smile in a 3 Hour Meeting.  Great job to those who helped out!

Evantage, In. 2012 National Awards Confernce

Wow, what a celebration of success.  Managing Partners, Assistant Managers, Administration, and Corporate Trainers from our offices throughout the US, came to Atlanta, GA July 27th - 29th for our National Awards Conference.  It was our biggest conference yet!  Our team members had a lot to celebrate.

During our morning session we were able to hear from industry leaders speak about principles to success.
Our team was able to hear how the Quality of your work separates you from others.
Treat everyone one you contact with Respect builds the right relationships.
Also, how Honesty and Integrity determines your results!

We also were able to here from Anthony Robles, 2011 ESPY Award Winner for the Jimmy V Award for Courage.  Here is Anthony's website if you would like to check it out:  http://anthonyrobles.com/
His motto is "Unstoppable" and spoke how negative things can poison your mind.  He spoke how vital is it to protect yourself from doubters and not let them "break you" when you are on your path to hit your goals.  We specifically enjoyed hearing his story about goal setting.  When he was in High School he wrote his goal of being a National Champion in NCAA for Wrestling.  Despite being born with one leg, he set his goals hi.  To this day he still carries around the sticky note he wrote his goal down.  It wasn't a mistake that he hit his goal!  Thanks again Anthony for speaking to our team!

In the evening we got a chance to hand out some hardware and celebrate some success!
We would like to congratulate all of our award winners and nominees!

Here are some of the Awards Winners!
Top Leader Awards:  Adam Drennan and Hayden Schoone
Achievement of Excellence for High Performance:  Casey Cavender
Top Pace-setting Team for AT&T U-Verse 1st Quarter 2012:  David Ahn
Most Improved Manager of the Year:  Chad Harpole
Consistency Manager of the Year:  David Ahn

Getting to Know Tania Pena!

This month, Evantage would like to once again introduce you to one of our team members.  We would like to recognize a key team member, who has been with our team since February.  This past weekend Tania Pena graduated with honors from Rochester Institute of Technology with her Bachelor's  of Business Management and a concentration in International Studies.  She was recognized by the University Thursday with a special dinner, which her family from El Salvador was able to attend! We are very proud of Tania, and can't wait to see her continue to grow her career with us!  Here is a little insight in Tania!

What was your background before Evantage?
I was born in El Salvador.  I grew up there, but since I was little I always had the vision to study abroad, especially in Spain.  My dad supported me on that idea, so when I graduated from high school I applied to University of Navarra in San Sebastian, Spain.  I was accepted and went to study there for 3 years.  Then I finished my career in Rochester, NY, which was part of the entire program.  Before going to Rochester, I did two internships in Spain, one for my college and the other one for Deloitte in Madrid.  I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology; my major is Business Management with a concentration in International Business.  After I finished my studies, I went to visit my family in El Salvador.  I decided to move to Dallas while I was there, and moved in February.  Once I moved to Dallas, I started applying for many jobs, but didn't take me that long to find the perfect one.  Evantage contacted me, I had the interview and they hired me. Now, here I am, s happy to be learning each day, and the most important thing is that I am having the opportunity to grow with this company.

You have been able to travel all over the world, where is your favorite spot?
I have two favorite places.  One of them is London, England.  I went there with my roommates when we where studying in Spain.  I fell in love with this city, it was amazing.  I liked the history, churches, city structure...everything is adorable there.  The second city is when I went with my family to the desert in Peru.  It is named Ica, it is part of the Atacama Desert.  This place is so beautiful, all desert.  I felt like in the movies, we drove boogies and did sand boarding.  The last one was one of the most original experiences that I have had.

Where would you still like to travel that you haven't been to yet?
I want to go to China to see the Great Wall.  I have read that history of it and that is why I want to go there. The other place is Egypt, to see the pyramids.  I still have time to go to both places.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Evantage?
What I enjoy the most is the fun environment and the ethical behavior.  To me, this means that we are really a team, that helps each other.  We are very professional, but at the same time we are a family.  I can say that this environment helped me to take the decision to start working here, and the environment makes me learn more and more each day.

What are your career goals?
The most important goal is to never stop focusing on my ethical behavior.  I personally think that without that I will not have to opportunity to grow my career.  I am positive that I want to open my own company, so growing personally and professionally.  I want to learn more each day so when I move up with the company I can teach others I will eventually coach and manage.

What is the biggest lesson you have learned so far at Evantage?
Without doubt I can say it is patience.  I am a very competitive person, and I want to learn and understand everything right away.  Right now I can say that life is not like that.  It takes time to learn, especially when we don't have any experience in what we are just starting.  I have learned that once I am working hard, everything comes when it comes.  Keep the course and always smile!

What are your hobbies, what do you like to do with your free time?
I love playing tennis; I could be playing the whole day.  I also like to read, as I said before, I want to know everything.  That is why I am always reading and trying to learn about everything.

How long have you worked at Evantage, and what do you enjoy most about working there?
Laura:  I began working at Evantage in 2006 in sales.  I was promoted to HR in 2007 and have worked in that capacity ever since.  I enjoy seeing my co-workers advance and grow a career with the company.

What is your favorite TV show and why?
Trinh:  All time favorite has to be Friends, and I can quote any episode.  My sister and I own the board game and all the DVDs.
Laura:  My favorite TV show at the moment is Swamp People!  It teaches you about hard work, disciple, and to earn what you get, nobody gives anything to you.  Choot'em!
